For the two-day public holiday a few weeks back, we visited Jebel Sifah, a resort approximately 40 miles outside of Muscat. The last time we had visited this resort was in our first year here, before CB was born. So we were very excited to visit again, this time with her, as parents. This is one of my favourite places we have discovered in Oman so far, especially because the drive there is so gorgeous.

You can watch highlights from our trip on my first video on my newly launched YouTube channel. Thank you for taking the time to watch and if you enjoy watching please like, share and subscribe!
We stayed overnight at a hotel apartment and made a few detours along the way to catch some stunning scenery:
Stop One: Yiti Beach
Separate to the busy public beach area, this is a quieter part of Yiti Beach which feels like a secret cove. To reach this beach, you first have to cross a large puddle of water. There are some beautiful rock formations and the water is shallow for a long distance. You may even spot a crab or two!

Stop Two: Bandar Al Khairan
I will have a go at translating this name to English, using my [very] little Arabic knowledge. I know that “bandar” means “sea port” or “natural harbour” and “khairan” roots from the word “khair” which means “good”, so “Bandar Al Khairan” may be interpreted as “The Port of Goodness”. Either way, it definitely feels like the port of goodness. The water is clear and glistens in the sunlight and everything seems so serene. Usually if it has rained in the year you will find water, again, shallow for miles. Aside from tourists, you will find fishermen going about their daily business and local children playing in the area. There is also a large shipwrecked boat stationed here, whether this is a historical artefact or a novel feature remains a mystery to me.

Stop Three: Bandar Al Khairan Viewpoint
A short drive ahead will lead you to the top of a rocky hill where you will find a magnificent view of the bandar and sea. There is no shade, so remember to bring your own if you are planning a picnic here. The beach at the bottom can be accessed by a narrow and steep road only accessible by a 4WD (drive carefully!). Some also choose to walk down there, but again the path is very narrow, steep and rocky and so if you do decide to take this route please make sure to at least wear appropriate footwear.

After making our stops we made our way over to check into our home for the night. We stayed at Le Sifah Resort Apartments, Jebel Sifah Resort. This resort was made a few years back and consists of hotel rooms and apartments, private residences, restaurants and cafés, pools, a private beach, a golf course, a marina and lots more. As well as driving there, you can access the area via water taxi, with connections at Al Mouj Marina and Marina Bandar Rowdha. Children’s activities include a trampoline, playground and children’s pool.

We had booked a fully equipped one-bedroom apartment where we cooked dinner ourselves. Please note that there is a local convenience store in case you forget to bring anything along. In the morning, we enjoyed a pleasant breakfast buffet spread at Sky Lounge restaurant and set off to return to Muscat.
We had a great time and I would love to visit again.
I hope you enjoyed the holidays too!
