Earlier this year, CB and I kept spotting a billboard for Cinderella on Ice at the Royal Opera House Muscat (ROHM) for January 2026. We love theatre but have not had the chance to see a proper performance at the ROHM yet. A lifetime ago before CB was born, DH and I watched a free behind-the-scenes production with some friends, where we learnt about how things work backstage at the ROHM. Another time, one-year-old CB and I were showing the sights to family who were visiting, and a family friend with links kindly managed to get us in to see the inside of the main Opera House. But watching an actual live performance has been a dream so far.

So after having spotted the ad a few times, we started daydreaming in traffic and chatting about how magical it would be to watch such a performance. I thought to myself tickets would probably be crazy-expensive in the hundreds, and dismissed the idea. One evening, however, I got curious and checked out the cost of tickets and discovered it was actually not as costly as I had thought! Moral of my story; check the actual price before you assume a dream is not affordable.
I booked our tickets on the ROHM website, which is, as I understand it, the only website tickets can be purchased on. Also, bear in mind that children under the age of 6 are not permitted to attend. For us, this means our new best friend will have to chill with her Baba dearest that evening.
When I booked online, I spent a while deliberating and googling images of the seating and stage to get an idea of the view and, in the end, decided to go for Grand Circle tickets. I paid 16 OMR for my ticket and 11.200 OMR for CB’s ticket (tax included). Which is not too bad! Children’s tickets (6-16Y) seem to be discounted at 30%. What was lacking on the website, though, was the feature where the view of the stage from the selected seat is shown, as I have seen on other theatre booking pages.
The performances begin in a week’s time, and tickets seem to still be available if you are interested, although the seating options are much more limited now.
If you are unable to attend for any reason, but would still like to watch a performance with your little ones above the age of 6 at the ROHM soon, there are upcoming performances of The Underwater Bubble Show in February 2026 which might take your fancy. This does seem a little more pricier than Cinderella on Ice though, with only Royal Circle tickets available with adult tickets costing 30 OMR and children ticket prices costing 21 OMR.
I did see somewhere that if you download the ROHM app, you can save a % on tickets, but the app did not work for me for some reason. There are also special packages and discounts on the website if you are looking to book multiple shows across the season.
I do wish there were more theatre shows suitable for younger children in Muscat. A few years back, there was a theatre group called h2 Productions (possibly from Dubai) that came twice to Muscat to perform children’s adaptations/pantomime type versions of Alice in Wonderland and The Little Mermaid. This was at the Oman Auditorium at Al Bustan Palace. Those shows were really great for a younger audience, and CB really enjoyed both, but I don’t think the troupe has come back for another performance since 2023.
If you are going to see Cinderella on Ice or watching any other performance in theatre soon, enjoy!
