Earlier this year I was inspired by The Great British Sewing Bee to do what I’ve always wanted to try: pick up the sewing needle and transform a sari into a dress. And who better to model for me than my little girl?? I have too many saris which I don’t get the chance to wear often, so it’s a shame to just leave all this beautiful material lying around. I decided to use one of these saris as material to stitch a pleated dress for CB to wear on Eid-ul-Fitr.

I am still very much an amateur sewer but I hope this video demonstrates that if you have a passion for doing something creative like this, don’t hold back on giving it a go! The dress took a total of 6 hours to make and it was entirely hand-stitched.
