Here’s yet another festival-related post! Today is the last day of the Ahlain Winter Village event, which has been running for the past ten days at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre. If you haven’t had a chance to visit yet, and are looking for a winter wonderland family experience, I do hope you get to go this evening!

The outdoor grounds of the OCEC have been transformed into a magical winter scene with artificial snow and lots of fun activities for the little ones. There are fairground rides, a maze, snowmen, a life-size snow globe which children can enter, an ice rink, boating and much more.

Remember I mentioned how impressed I was by the circus troupe in my Geronimo post? Well, the performers here were on another level! To be able to perform and ice-skate simultaneously is serious talent. The Delice Show have come in from France to perform ‘Join the Circus’ at the Winter Village arena. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed watching this fantastical performance and Cutie Baby was simply mesmerised, so it was a great sensory experience for her. According to their website, and we had realised from our observations too, they perform on their mobile ice rink which has been made without actual ice, allowing them to set up in any location – this explains a lot! Shows are 30 minutes long and are on daily at 6pm, 8pm and 9.30pm. Entry to the arena is free with a wristband.

Don’t miss the Food Street, where you will find a variety of delicacies from all over the world. We tried Mandazi from Mandazi and Chai, an East African speciality doughnut, and some fresh mango juice from Juice World. The good food, lighting and live musical performances added to a great atmosphere to end the evening with.

How much? Entry to the Winter Village is 1 OMR (which will get you a wristband, rides are priced 500 bz – 1.5 OMR), and under 5s are free
