Following my theme of festival-related posts, here’s one on a current festival taking place here in Muscat. Souq-es-Sabt is back for another season at Al Mouj! Of course it is nowhere near on the scale of Geronimo, but even so we really enjoyed visiting this “artisan farmer’s market” earlier this year, which I would recommend as good fun for all the family.

Make sure you get there bright and early as it starts at 8.30am and finishes early too, at 2.30pm. You will find a range of stalls offering many different items; fresh produce, clothing, books for children, artwork, hot food and sweets, to name a few. There are plenty of activities to keep the little ones entertained also. I’m not sure if these are on again for this season but when we visited in February, there was a bouncy castle, a waterblob, a slime-making workshop, archery and much more. It’s a great way to find out about all these local businesses too. I’m looking forward to visiting again!
